S.B. 1088 Summary

• Expands the electric vehicle charging infrastructure rebate program to include rebates for electric vehicle-ready parking stalls installed in new affordable housing construction, with up to $1,750 per stall for alternating current Level 2 stations.

• Limits eligible electric vehicle-ready parking stalls to 50 percent of the total number installed in an affordable housing project.

• Defines "affordable housing" as housing affordable to households with income at or below 140 percent of the area median income as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

• Establishes "electric vehicle-ready" as having full-circuit installation including 208-volt three-phase or 240-volt single-phase power, 40-ampere panel capacity, raceway, wiring, receptacle, and overprotection devices.

• Applies to electric vehicle-ready parking stalls installed after July 1, 2025, and takes effect on July 1, 2025.
