Authorizes public school employees and agents trained by a health care professional to administer oral, nasal, topical, and emergency premeasured medications to students, in addition to existing school health assistant authority.

Requires trained volunteers to have parental/guardian authorization for minor students and approval from a health care professional within the Department of Education, Department of Health, or contracted health care service.

Expands prescribing authority to include physicians, physician assistants licensed under chapter 453, advanced practice registered nurses with prescriptive authority under chapter 457, and other licensed health care practitioners with prescriptive authority.

Medication administration must be necessary for student health and school attendance, maintaining existing safeguard requirements regarding correct student identification, medication route, dosage, timing, and documentation.

Takes effect upon approval.
