Hawaii State Energy Office is requested to convene a Nuclear Energy Working Group to study the feasibility of using advanced nuclear power technologies in the state.

Working group membership includes the Chief Energy Officer (chair), Director of Health, Board of Land and Natural Resources Chairperson, energy committee chairs from both legislative chambers, Public Utilities Commission representative, and University of Hawaii nuclear energy expert.

Chair is requested to invite optional members including U.S. Navy nuclear energy representative, public utility representative, nuclear energy or waste disposal expert, and environmental organization representative.

Working group is requested to study feasibility of advanced nuclear technologies, evaluate benefits and risks including regulatory, statutory, financial, social, and environmental factors, and identify potential short-term and long-term nuclear energy goals for the state.

Hawaii State Energy Office must submit the working group's findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2026 Regular Session convening.
