Office of Hawaiian Affairs is requested to conduct a study assessing its readiness and ability to assume stewardship of Mauna Ala (Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii), the final resting place for Hawaiian Kingdom monarchs established in 1865.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs must submit a report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2026 Regular Session convening.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs is requested to develop educational programs about the history and cultural significance of Mauna Ala for public education.

Department of Land and Natural Resources is requested to draft stewardship guidelines that integrate Hawaiian ʻike (knowledge) and traditional cultural kuleana (responsibility) practices to inform stewardship practices.

Concurrent copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
