Request that the Department of Transportation install and utilize electronic scanning equipment at each state airport and harbor to detect illegal fireworks.

Require that for commercial harbors, scanning equipment be installed away from the harbor to minimize disruptions to commerce.

Identify illegal fireworks importation and use as significant threats to public safety, property, and the environment in Hawaii.

Note that current enforcement measures have proven insufficient in preventing unlawful entry of fireworks into the state.

Direct transmission of a certified copy of the resolution to the Director of Transportation.
