Request that the County of Maui employ one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) archaeologist to support historic preservation efforts in rebuilding Lahaina following the August 2023 wildfires.

Direct the archaeologist to work with other entities involved in Lahaina's rebuilding to preserve the community's and State's history and culture.

Require the archaeologist to implement federal and state preservation mandates and to plan and manage historic preservation projects in the rebuilding process.

Recognize that historic preservation supports cultural identity, economic recovery through tourism, environmental sustainability, community healing, education, and legal compliance during Lahaina's reconstruction.
