Teachers with more than one year of experience who are entering or reentering the Hawaii Department of Education must receive salary ratings equal to incumbent teachers with identical years of experience

The Department of Education must recognize all prior teaching experience, whether gained in Hawaii or elsewhere, at the same rate as current department employees

No cap may be placed on the number of years of prior teaching experience that can be recognized for salary purposes

Military service credit for teachers remains at up to four years, with each year of service (or six months thereof) counting as one year of teaching experience
