Redefines "dangerous to self" to include being "gravely disabled" rather than requiring specific behavioral evidence of inability to meet basic needs

Adds new definition of "gravely disabled" as a condition where a person cannot prevent physical or psychiatric deterioration or meet basic needs without supervision, likely resulting in death, substantial injury, or serious debilitation

Creates new definition of "psychiatric deterioration" as substantial impairment or obvious decline in judgment, reasoning, or ability to control behavior

Extends the "imminently dangerous to self or others" timeframe from 45 days to 90 days for predicting when a person will likely become dangerous without intervention

Increases maximum emergency hospitalization period from 48 hours to 72 hours before requiring patient release or initiation of court-ordered evaluation proceedings

Takes effect July 1, 2025
