Creates a new exemption from mandatory mediation in contested paternity proceedings when domestic abuse is alleged, allowing the alleged victim to decline participation in any mediation program

Requires mediators receiving court referrals to screen for domestic abuse between parties and prohibits mediation unless authorized by the alleged victim and conducted by a mediator trained in domestic abuse

Prohibits courts from requiring mediation when a temporary restraining order or protective order is in effect between the parties

Updates existing divorce proceeding mediation exemption law by replacing "spousal abuse" and "family violence" terminology with the standardized term "domestic abuse" as defined in section 586-1
