Appropriates $6,000,000 per year for fiscal years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 from general revenues for exploration and identification of geothermal resources on Hawaii island

Funds to be expended by the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT)

Builds on existing partnership between Hawaii Technology Development Corporation and University of Hawaii working toward a 50-100 megawatt utility-scale geothermal power station on Hawaii island

Notes that the legislature previously appropriated $6,000,000 in 2024 for an integrated geothermal development plan, which the governor reduced to $3,000,000
