Requires individual and group health insurance policies, mutual benefit society contracts, and health maintenance organization plans to cover medically necessary proton beam therapy for cancer treatment, effective January 1, 2027.

Prohibits insurers from applying higher clinical evidence standards for proton beam therapy coverage than they apply to other forms of radiation therapy treatment.

Defines proton beam therapy as radiation treatment using protons to treat tumors and cancerous cells, and defines radiation therapy treatment to include proton therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, brachytherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy.

Exempts limited benefit health insurance policies from the proton beam therapy coverage requirements.

Takes effect July 1, 2026, with coverage requirements applying to policies issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2027.
