HI HB2294

Amends Act 307, Session Laws of Hawaii 2022, to revise tax map key numbers for public school land parcels being transferred to the Department of Education due to verification updates and changed circumstances.

Establishes that the transfer of properties to the Department of Education was effective by operation of law as of July 1, 2022, regardless of whether formal conveyance documents have been recorded.

Removes several parcels from the original transfer list for Kauai County (Wilcox Elementary) and Maui County (including Anahola School, certain Baldwin High School parcels, and Kamehameha III Elementary).

Allows the Department of Education to elect to obtain all or a portion of each identified parcel, with parties taking necessary actions to legally effect partial transfers.

Updates the conveyance process to require recording in the Office of the Assistant Registrar of the Land Court or Bureau of Conveyances, with quitclaim deeds serving to evidence and formally document transfers already effective by law.
