Establishes a Shade and Fruit Tree Program within the Department of Education to increase tree canopy on public school campuses, addressing climate change-induced heat impacts on student outdoor activities and learning.

Requires collaboration between the Department of Education and the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife to implement the program.

Authorizes using the 29 existing agriculture and natural resource programs in schools statewide to educate students and propagate native shade trees and fruit trees for planting across all DOE schools.

Builds on a completed tree inventory of 147 school campuses (as of August 2025) that includes digital maps, risk assessments, maintenance responsibilities, and locations suitable for new trees.

Would take effect July 1, 3000 (placeholder date indicating the bill requires further amendment before implementation).
