Designates Hawaii as a "Purple Heart state" to honor the courage, service, and sacrifices of Purple Heart recipients who are Hawaii residents or served in the state.

Adds a new section to Chapter 5 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes establishing the official designation.

The Purple Heart medal, created by General George Washington in 1782, is awarded to armed forces members killed, wounded, or who died from wounds received in combat, as a result of international terrorism, or while held as a prisoner of war.

Effective date set for July 1, 3000 (placeholder date typically amended before final passage).
