Hawaii Legislature reaffirms its commitment to participate as a member legislature in the Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the successor organization to the Pacific Islands Parliamentary Group

The Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly was established in August 2025 to replace the Pacific Islands Parliamentary Group, which Hawaii had participated in since 2019

The Assembly focuses on strengthening democratic governance and collaboration among Pacific legislatures on shared priorities including climate resilience, sustainable development, ocean stewardship, cultural preservation, and economic resilience

Hawaii's geographic location and indigenous heritage position the state as a bridge between Pacific Island nations and the United States for fostering regional dialogue and partnership

Certified copies of the resolution will be transmitted to the Governor, legislative leaders, the East-West Center President, and Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly officials
