Urges Maui County to actively enforce subsection 10.13.2 of the County Fire Code, which was adopted in December 2024 and addresses fire hazards, brush clearance, fuel breaks, roadside vegetation clearing, and emergency access requirements.

Maui County Fire Code requires property owners to maintain brush clearance of 30-100 feet from structures based on vegetation height, with brush cleared to under 18 inches on lots one-half acre or smaller when violations are found.

Prioritizes enforcement on large parcels, properties adjacent to residential communities and temporary wildfire survivor housing sites, parcels bordering major evacuation corridors, and areas with heightened fire risks.

Notes that non-compliance with the County's updated overgrowth rules may result in fines up to $1,000 per day and criminal penalties.

Requests certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Mayor of Maui County, Fire Chief, Maui Emergency Management Agency Administrator, and Chair of the Maui County Council.
