Hawaii House Resolution urging the City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation to improve safety, accessibility, and variety of playground features at all city parks.

Many Honolulu playgrounds currently contain aging or outdated equipment, limited shade and seating, and lack accessible play structures compared to modern playgrounds on the continental United States.

Outdated playgrounds can limit children's physical activity and outdoor learning opportunities while increasing injury risk due to equipment wear or inadequate safety surfacing.

The resolution emphasizes that inclusive playgrounds with nature-based play structures and adaptive features allow children of all abilities and income levels to participate in active play.

Certified copies of the resolution would be transmitted to the Mayor of Honolulu and the Director of Parks and Recreation.
