Office of the State Fire Marshal requested to convene an Electric Vehicle Fires Working Group to address lithium-ion battery fire risks in parking structures

Working Group membership includes the State Fire Marshal as Chairperson, Insurance Commissioner, Comptroller, Public Utilities Commission Chairperson, and representatives from each county's facility maintenance and building permitting agencies

State Fire Marshal requested to invite representatives from the commercial parking structure industry and condominium industry to participate

Working Group must submit a report to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2027 Regular Session with findings and recommendations

Report must include recommendations on updating State Fire Code, Building Code, and Electrical Code for parking structure resilience, additional firefighter training, and proposed legislation
