Reestablishes the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii as an organized research unit within the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), rather than a separate administratively affiliated entity

Director of the Cancer Research Center would be appointed by the Board of Regents upon recommendation from the UH Manoa Chancellor and Provost, with reporting lines to the Chancellor, Provost, and Dean of JABSOM

Restricts funds from the Research and Training Revolving Fund used by JABSOM or the Cancer Research Center to research and research-related purposes only

Aims to eliminate administrative redundancies, reduce costs in building construction, equipment, facilities, and staffing by merging overlapping functions between the two entities that share the Kakaako campus

Takes effect July 1, 2025
