Requires the Department of Education to assign school resource officers or registered guards to every public school and charter school during hours when students are on campus

Officers and guards must be trained in mass-shooting response and de-escalation techniques

Number of officers/guards assigned to each school must consider campus size, student enrollment, and other safety-relevant factors

Directs the department to seek federal grants to cover hiring costs and to prioritize hiring retirees from police departments and the department of law enforcement

Appropriates unspecified funds from general revenues for fiscal years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027, effective July 1, 2025
