Updates the exemption amounts for the first time since 1978, reflecting approximately 400% consumer price inflation over 48 years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Modernizes the definition of "head of a family" by replacing gendered terms like "man and woman" with "two individuals," "wife or husband" with "spouse," and "brother or sister" with "sibling."

Takes effect July 1, 2026.
