Requires the Board of Education to adopt a statewide heat acclimatization and practice policy for all K-12 students in Department of Education schools and public charter schools, based on the Hawaii Athletic Trainers Association's 2017 Heat Acclimatization and Practice Policy.

Mandates use of wet-bulb globe temperature measurements taken on-site to determine thresholds for modifying, postponing, or canceling outdoor activities including sports practices, games, and recess.

Policy must include protocols for adequate hydration, staff training on recognizing heat illness symptoms, safeguards for students with medical conditions affecting thermoregulation, and requirements for acclimatizing students returning after absences.

Appropriates $195,000 total for fiscal year 2026-2027: $143,000 for wet-bulb globe temperature thermometers for DOE schools, $22,000 for thermometers for charter schools, and $30,000 combined for training and implementation.

Effective July 1, 2026.
