Hoakea integrates core subjects (math, science, social studies, civics, language, literacy) with Native Hawaiian cultural practices, environmental stewardship, and climate change education in partnership with the Polynesian Voyaging Society

Program has reached over 3,200 students, nearly 1,300 teachers, and engaged more than 50 organizations statewide since inception

Addresses disproportionately high absenteeism and lower achievement rates among Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students by providing culturally relevant, place-based learning experiences

Effective date of July 1, 2050 (placeholder date indicating the appropriation amount has not yet been determined)
