Hawaii Legislature reaffirms its commitment to participate as a member legislature in the Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the successor organization to the Pacific Islands Parliamentary Group established in 2019.

The Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly was formally established in August 2025 when member legislatures adopted statutes expanding the framework for cooperation among Pacific parliaments and formalizing its governance structure.

The Assembly focuses on strengthening democratic governance and collaboration on shared regional priorities including climate resilience, sustainable development, ocean stewardship, cultural preservation, and economic resilience.

Hawaii's geographic location, indigenous heritage, and cultural connections position the state as a bridge between Pacific Island nations and the United States for fostering dialogue and partnership.

Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the Governor, legislative leaders, East-West Center President, and officials of the Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and Parliament of French Polynesia.
