Urges Maui County to actively enforce subsection 10.13.2 of the County Fire Code, which was adopted in December 2024 and addresses fire hazards, brush clearance, fuel breaks, roadside vegetation clearing, and emergency access.

Calls for prioritized enforcement on large parcels, properties adjacent to residential communities and temporary wildfire survivor housing sites, parcels along major evacuation corridors, and areas with heightened risk to life and property.

References Maui County's authority to require brush clearance of 30-100 feet from structures, fuel break maintenance on parcels over one-half acre, and vegetation clearing along highways and private streets.

Notes that non-compliance with the fire code may result in fines up to $1,000 per day and criminal penalties, and urges the County to use all available enforcement tools including inspection, citation, and abatement.

Requests certified copies be sent to the Mayor of Maui County, Fire Chief, Maui Emergency Management Agency Administrator, and Maui County Council Chair.
