Requests the State Auditor to assess the social and financial effects of expanding mandated health insurance coverage for autism diagnosis and treatment under S.B. No. 2204

Current law limits autism-related health insurance coverage, including applied behavioral analysis (ABA), to individuals under 14 years of age with an annual cap of $25,000 for ABA services

S.B. No. 2204 proposes to repeal both the age limit of 14 years and the $25,000 annual maximum benefit for ABA services

Auditor's report with findings and recommendations must be submitted to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the Regular Session of 2027 convenes

Required under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 23-51, which mandates auditor assessment before any bill requiring new health insurance coverage mandates can be considered
