Requests the State Auditor to conduct quarterly performance and management audits of the Department of Education and its attached agencies, with no fewer than two performance audits and two management audits per year

Department of Education represents nearly a quarter of the State's general fund operating budget and receives hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding annually

Audit categories would include academic performance compared to strategic plan objectives, leadership and management structure, federal funding (grants, Medicaid reimbursements, emergency relief funds), and school academic and financial plans

Addresses a conflict of interest where the Department's Internal Audit Director reports to the Superintendent and Board Chair while expected to act independently

Urges the Department and attached agencies to use audit findings to reallocate resources to increase student academic success and workforce readiness
