At least 80% of students admitted to Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine DVM program must be Iowa residents or graduates of Iowa postsecondary institutions

Admission preference given to applicants who declare intent to pursue a mixed animal option track and enter private practice in an Iowa rural community (counties with population under 25,000)

"Iowa resident" defined as individuals who graduated from an Iowa high school or lived in Iowa for at least four consecutive years immediately before starting classes

Applications must include attestations about Iowa background factors including birthplace, high school graduation, family ties to Iowa, and residence in rural communities

Admissions evaluations prohibited from considering tests assessing noncognitive skills, ethics, or interpersonal traits, including the CASPer test
