Retired public safety employees who apply for retirement benefits must receive credit for all accumulated, unused sick leave converted at 100% of current value

Converted sick leave funds are credited to an account to pay the retiree's monthly health insurance premiums

Upon death of a retired public safety employee, the surviving spouse or dependents may use remaining sick leave value to continue paying health insurance premiums

Does not apply to public safety employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement that already provides an employer-paid retirement health savings plan
