Mandates health education programs for grades 1-12 in school districts, charter schools, and innovation zone schools that include evidence-based instruction on nutrition, aerobic exercise, and their connection to preventing hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

Requires student assessments of nutrition knowledge, blood pressure, resting heart rate, and strength endurance (via push-ups, sit-ups, or similar measures) at both the beginning and end of each semester or term.

School districts must report all assessment results to the Iowa Department of Education, with blood pressure and heart rate data collected using appropriate sampling methodology that protects student privacy.

Programs must align with health standards adopted by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and be selected from nationally accepted nutrition and exercise programs designed for school-age children.

Students must receive a passing or failing grade upon program completion, with modified tests provided for exceptional students.
