Each member of the Iowa House of Representatives may hire a legislative clerk to work under the direction of both the member and the chief clerk of the house

Legislative clerks must be on duty at the House from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, plus other days as required by the chief clerk

Members may excuse their legislative clerk from duty requirements

Pay rates for legislative clerks will be determined by the chief clerk of the house

Codifies into state law a practice currently authorized only through chamber rules, which required clerks to work Monday through Thursday during legislative session
