Appropriates $2,000,000 from the general fund to the State Board of Regents to support a study at the University of Iowa on the underlying causes of cancer rates in the state, covering salaries, support, and maintenance costs for fiscal year 2026-2027.

Appropriates $3,000,000 from the general fund to the Department of Health and Human Services to award grants to public or private entities supporting clinical cancer research and programs to increase access to clinical cancer research trials for Iowa residents.

The Department of Health and Human Services may use up to 5% of its appropriation ($150,000) for administrative costs associated with awarding the grants.

Total appropriation for cancer research initiatives is $5,000,000 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027.
