Caps total general education requirements at 37 semester credit hours, with western heritage courses (e.g., western civilization, British literature, Greek philosophy) and American heritage courses (e.g., American history, Iowa history, American government) allowed to double-count toward other subject requirements

Prohibits courses satisfying general education requirements from including curriculum based on identity politics or theories that systemic racism, sexism, oppression, or privilege are inherent in U.S. or Iowa institutions

Requires centers for intellectual freedom or civic education, where established, to annually review and approve courses meeting western and American heritage requirements

Applies to students beginning enrollment at regent institutions in academic years starting on or after July 1, 2027, with attorney general authorized to seek mandamus to compel institutional compliance
