First offense for driving with a denied, canceled, suspended, revoked, or barred license becomes a scheduled violation with a $250 fine, reduced from the current simple misdemeanor (which carries a $250-$1,500 fine and up to 30 days confinement)

Second offense remains a simple misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days confinement and a fine of $105-$855

Third or subsequent offenses are elevated to a serious misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year confinement and a fine of $430-$2,560

Removes the current prohibition on suspending sentences for violations under Code section 321.218 (driving while license denied, canceled, suspended, or revoked)

Applies to license sanctions under motor vehicle law (Chapter 321), financial responsibility requirements (Chapter 321A), and operating while intoxicated violations (Chapter 321J)
