Entitles employees who are veterans to unpaid leave for appointments with a county commission of veteran affairs

Requires employees to submit a written request for leave at least five calendar days in advance, or 24 hours in emergency situations

Classifies denial of leave without good-faith reason or retaliation against veterans for taking such leave as an unfair or discriminatory employment practice

Allows veterans to file complaints with the Iowa Office of Civil Rights if employers deny timely requests without good-faith reason or retaliate against them for using this leave

Amends Section 216.6 of the Iowa Code to add this protection to existing employment discrimination provisions
