Establishes core academic indicators for mathematics and reading in grades 4, 8, and 11, and for science and social studies in grades 8 and 10, with annual reporting required in the condition of education report.

Requires all students in grades 3-11 to take assessments in mathematics and English language arts (including reading and writing) during the last quarter of the school year.

Mandates science assessments for students in grades 5, 8, and 10, and social studies assessments for students in grades 8 and 10.

Requires assessments to be aligned with Iowa core academic standards, available in paper-and-pencil and computer-based formats, and peer-reviewed by an independent third-party evaluator to meet federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirements.

Directs the Department of Education to adopt rules requiring school districts to implement suicide prevention and postvention protocols based on nationally recognized best practices.
