Deploying military parents unable to exercise court-ordered physical care or visitation during short-term deployments (less than 30 days) may make up missed time within 30 days before or after the deployment

Makeup time is limited to the actual number of days missed during deployment, not to exceed 30 days total

Deploying parents must notify the other parent in writing within 7 days of receiving deployment orders, unless military circumstances prevent timely notification

The deploying parent must provide a written plan for fulfilling missed custody or visitation time and file it with any court that has issued a child-custody determination for the child

"Uniformed service member" includes active and reserve components of all military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard), Merchant Marine, Public Health Service, NOAA corps, and National Guard
