Amends Iowa Code Section 144B.6, subsection 2, governing the duties of an attorney in fact under a durable power of attorney for health care

Requires the attorney in fact to act in accordance with the principal's desires as expressed in the durable power of attorney, a living will declaration under section 144A.3, or wishes otherwise made known to the attorney in fact

Clarifies that a living will declaration under Chapter 144A shall not be interpreted as prohibiting withdrawal of hydration or nutrition provided parenterally or through intubation

Establishes that the attorney in fact's authority cannot be restricted by the principal's verbal statements to third parties or other documents unless the declaration or power of attorney expressly states limitations

Requires the attorney in fact to act in the principal's best interests based on overall medical condition and prognosis when the principal's desires are unknown; effective July 1, 2026
