Large motion picture theater companies (operating 5+ theaters in Iowa) must offer open captioning screenings for films with at least 5 scheduled showings, including at least 2 screenings per week during the first two weeks of release with specific evening/weekend time requirements.

Small motion picture theater companies (1-4 theaters) must provide either an open captioning screening within 8 days of receiving a request, or meet the same requirements as large theater companies.

Theaters must advertise open captioning screenings using the "OC" symbol in the same manner as other screenings and provide website contact information for requesting open captioning showings.

Theaters must maintain compliance documentation for at least one year, and the requirements apply only to theaters with digital projection systems that support open captioning files.
