Public corporations must send written notification of the final acceptance date of a public improvement project within 14 calendar days after final acceptance.

Required notification recipients include the principal contractor, the surety on any performance bond, and any claimant for labor or materials who has filed a claim.

The bill amends Iowa Code Section 573.16, which governs public improvement contracts and allows parties to bring equity actions between 30 and 60 days after project completion.

Public corporations are explicitly shielded from liability for any claims or damages arising from failure to comply with the new notification requirement.
