Requires all Iowa state and local government employers to use the federal E-Verify system to confirm employment eligibility of newly hired employees.

Employees may challenge E-Verify results by submitting documentation to the legislative council within ten calendar days of receiving results.

Mandates transmission of E-Verify results to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal immigration agencies if a check shows the individual lacks legal status to be present in the United States.

Applies E-Verify requirements across multiple government entities including the General Assembly, the ombudsman's office, and state departments and agencies.
