Vehicles left unclaimed for 40 days on public or private property are deemed abandoned and may be towed and impounded by police authorities or hired garagekeepers.

Within 10 days of towing, the impounding party must notify the registered owner, lienholders, and known claimants with vehicle details, location, and reclamation instructions.

Owners have 20 days from notice to reclaim vehicles or personal property by paying all towing, impound fees, and notice costs; owners may retrieve personal property once without paying fees.

Failure to reclaim within 20 days constitutes waiver of interest and consent for the impounding party to sell or dispose of the vehicle and its contents.

Persons disputing fees or planned disposition of vehicles taken by police authority may request an evidentiary hearing before that authority.
