Users who provide input to an artificial intelligence system own the output generated from that input, provided the output does not infringe on third-party copyrights or intellectual property rights

Persons who train an AI system own the resulting trained AI if the training data was lawfully acquired and they have not transferred ownership rights through contract or agreement

AI output or trained AI created by an employee within the scope of employment duties belongs to the employer, subject to conditions including lawful data acquisition and non-infringement of third-party rights

Establishes definitions for "artificial intelligence," "input," "output," "train," and "user" under new Iowa Code chapter 554J

Ownership cannot be granted under this bill if it would infringe on preexisting copyrights or other intellectual property rights
