House Bill No. 548 Summary

• Amends Section 18-1351 of Idaho Code to revise the definition of "benefit" in bribery and corruption laws.

• Excludes awards given to public employees by nonprofit organizations that represent public employees as part of public employee recognition programs from the definition of "benefit," even if the award has economic significance.

• Maintains existing exclusion that "benefit" does not include advantages promised generally to groups or classes of voters as a consequence of public measures a candidate supports or opposes.

• Retains all other definitions related to bribery and corrupt practices, including definitions for confidential information, government entities, harm, official proceedings, party officials, pecuniary benefit, public servants, and administrative proceedings.
