HB 563 Summary

• Authorizes the Fish and Game Commission to adopt rules for intensive management of identified game species to achieve higher sustained yield for human harvest where consumptive use is the preferred use.

• Empowers the Commission to coordinate with local government land and management planning efforts and require the Department to conduct intensive management programs to restore game population abundance or productivity.

• Permits intensive management programs only where the Commission determines that game population depletion or productivity reduction has occurred, enhancement is feasible, and expected benefits to human consumptive use justify the management.

• Amends Section 36-104, Idaho Code, to add intensive management authority as a new subsection (16) to the Commission's general powers and duties.
