Students in grades 9-12 may be excused from school for up to 5 periods per week or 165 hours per school year for religious or other purposes upon parent/guardian application (or student application if age 18+)

School boards have reasonable discretion to schedule and determine the timing of release time for excused absences

Release time excuses do not reduce minimum graduation requirements for Idaho high schools

Public school facilities, personnel, and equipment cannot be used to maintain attendance records for religious instruction classes or to facilitate religious instruction

No school credit shall be awarded for courses completed during release time for religious purposes, though boards may grant credit for other purposes at their discretion
