Idaho SB 1124 Summary

• Repeals six sections of Idaho Code (33-1271 through 33-1276) relating to school district negotiation agreements and local education organization collective bargaining procedures.

• Repeals nine sections of Idaho Code (44-1802 through 44-1810) that provided collective bargaining rights, recognition of bargaining agents, good faith bargaining obligations, and fact-finding procedures for firefighters.

• Amends Section 44-1811 to prohibit firefighters from striking or recognizing picket lines of any labor organization while performing official duties.

• Creates new Chapter 17 in Title 59 declaring public policy against public sector collective bargaining, prohibiting public employers from recognizing labor organizations as bargaining agents or entering collective bargaining contracts concerning pay, hours, conditions, or grievances.

• Declares public employee strikes unlawful and authorizes public employers to seek injunctive relief; prohibits employers from authorizing strikes or paying employees for strike days; allows employers to withhold wages from employees participating in strikes.
