House Bill 506 Summary

• Amends Section 50-2007 of Idaho Code to clarify urban renewal agency powers within their area of operation, including undertaking renewal projects, providing services and facilities, acquiring property, and making surveys and plans

• Removes language from Section 50-2007 allowing agencies to enter buildings and properties to make inspections and obtain court orders when entry is denied or resisted

• Eliminates provisions from Section 50-2010 that granted urban renewal agencies the explicit power of eminent domain and condemnation to acquire property interests

• Modifies Section 50-2010 to limit property acquisition to negotiation only, removing the previous authority to acquire property through condemnation proceedings

• Removes subsections (b) and (c) of Section 50-2010 that detailed compensation procedures and admissible evidence in eminent domain proceedings for taking or damaging property
