Exempts law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel from texting prohibition while performing duties within course and scope of employment.

First violation without property damage or injury is an infraction punishable by $50 fixed penalty plus court costs.

Second and subsequent violations without property damage or injury are infractions punishable by $100 fixed penalty plus court costs.

Violations involving property damage or injury are misdemeanors punishable by up to $300 fine and/or up to 90 days in jail.
