Senate Bill 1259 Summary
-
Commission members now serve at the pleasure of the Governor and can be removed by the Governor upon request from the Idaho grain producers association executive committee without cause.
-
The Idaho Wheat Commission gains authority to solicit grants, donations, and gifts; call referendums; and require bonding for the executive director and other appointed agents or employees.
-
Two or more commission members may now request a meeting in writing, expanding from the previous requirement of a chairman's call or unspecified request procedures.
-
Maximum wheat tax remains at five cents (5¢) per bushel, effective July 1, 2012, with collected fines directed to commission accounts rather than a specific "Idaho Wheat Commission Fund."
-
Section 22-3313 relating to the establishment of the executive director's office is repealed, and technical corrections are made throughout the chapter including removal of archaic provisions and outdated association references.
